San, also known as Princess Mononoke, is a fierce and determined warrior raised by wolves in Princess Mononoke (1997). She is a human adopted by Moro, the wolf goddess, and fights to protect the forest from human destruction. San is deeply connected to nature and distrustful of humanity, especially Lady Eboshi, the leader of Irontown, who seeks to exploit the land’s resources. Throughout the film, she struggles with her identity as a human raised by animals and ultimately learns to find balance between nature and civilization with the help of Ashitaka, the film’s protagonist.
